Common Challenges
Most Common Repairs for Hearing Aids
Hearing aids are durable, but not indestructible. Here are some of the most common hearing aid problems that we’ve seen, and can fix for you, so you’re back to hearing clearer sooner.
Damaged receiver
Sometimes the wire/speaker that delivers sound from your hearing aid can become worn or damaged, resulting in sound quality issues or no sound at all. This is often an easy and inexpensive fix that can be done at any of our clinic locations.
Tubing/earhook issues
The part of a behind-the-ear hearing aid that fits snugly around the ear can often get damaged due to regular wear and tear.
Hearing aid tubing can harden or shrink over time. If these issues occur, the hearing aid won’t be held in place properly and sound quality may be affected. We can usually replace it in clinic, or order the parts you need.
Broken microphone
This is a trickier fix, but sometimes doable in office. A plugged or damaged microphone can be fixed in clinic, or may need to be repaired by your device’s manufacturer.
Bring your hearing aid to us sooner rather than later if it does not sound right!
Earwax buildup
A hearing aid can get plugged with earwax in different places. We’re happy to remove it for you and get your hearing aid working properly again.
