Frequently Asked Questions
Ahead of Your First Appointment
What Happens When I Arrive?
Once you enter one of our clinics, our friendly front desk staff greets you at the door and gets your information to check you in for your appointment. Thirsty after the long drive? You’ll have your choice of beverage while you wait for the appointment to start.
When you’re fully checked in, we’ll notify the audiologist and they’ll come get you from the waiting room at your appointment time. We sometimes run a minute or two behind as our hearing tests are very in depth – we thank you in advance for your patience.
Can I Bring Someone With Me?
Definitely! The people around you in your world are often the ones who recognize first when you need some assistance for your hearing – loved ones can give valuable feedback, help you make important decisions, and provide a second pair of ears to take in the information that we’ll share with you.
It’s a lot to take in; we highly recommend that you bring someone trusted with you to help.
What Happens During My Hearing Assessment?
When you come to visit us about a hearing concern, we’ll start with a comprehensive hearing test, which will not only examine your ears for hearing loss, but also for other health conditions that may have caused it. Our hearing tests are lengthy, but they are detailed and highly advanced, making for the most thorough results possible.
We’ll look inside and around your ears to search for infection or irritation, as well as to see if earwax has impacted inside your ear canals, which can cause a sudden hearing loss.
After the initial examination of your ears, you’ll take a series of tests that will help you understand your current range of hearing. These tests include speech testing, pure-tone audiometry, and immittance, which all help us see what levels of hearing you’re working with.
You’ll get your results on the same day as your hearing test; we’ll review them with you and offer advice on the next steps that will help you alleviate your hearing loss challenges.
How Long Is a Hearing Assessment?
A comprehensive hearing test typically takes up to 60 minutes. You’ll get your results on the same day as your hearing test.
Does My Health Insurance Cover a Hearing Assessment?
We recommend checking with your insurance provider before you come in for your appointment, as every policy has different coverage levels for hearing care. Our insurance specialist is happy to look at your plan for you and see what you need to get your hearing assessment or hearing aids covered.
Quality hearing care services can make a huge difference to any patient’s life, not just in being able to hear better. We’re working hard to make sure our services are as accessible as possible to everyone who comes to visit us.
