In September, our clinicians had the privilege of attending a Phonak launch event in Toronto! The launch was hosted at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Lightbox, and was a full premiere experience with popcorn, posters, and a red carpet. We had a fantastic couple of days of training bonding as a team.

The event started with an incredible presentation from the inspirational Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield! Our clinicians received training on Phonak’s latest advancements: Virto Infinio, Infinio Ultra, and their new EasyGuard domes.
Phonak Infinio Virto

Virto is the latest addition to Phonak’s Infinio product line. This is Phonak’s first line of custom-made hearing aids that are rechargeable, meaning there is no worry about replacing batteries.
They are also equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, which allows streaming of phone calls and audio, as well as changing the volume and programs using the myPhonak app.
These devices are available in the In-the-Canal (ITC) and In-the-Ear (ITE) styles, and with Phonak’s advanced fitting process, they can be made as small as possible based on the individual’s ear shape.
Virto is an excellent option for patients who are looking for a rechargeable hearing aid that fits neatly in the ear and can be used with their cell phone.
Phonak Infinio Ultra
Last year, our clinicians attended the Infinio launch and training event. At that time, Phonak announced their groundbreaking Infinio Sphere hearing aid technology, designed specifically for understanding speech in noise. The clarity and improvement were nothing short of remarkable.

After much research and development, Phonak has upgraded the already incredible Infinio technology with Ultra. At this year’s event, our clinicians were given a sneak peek of Infinio Ultra, which officially launched in Canada on November 4, 2025.
For those who have already been fit with Phonak Infinio hearing aids, the option to upgrade to this advanced technology is available with a firmware update appointment at no charge!
The automatic program with Infinio Ultra is based on more sound samples than previous versions, which allows the hearing aids to better determine when listening to speech in a noisy environment or enjoying music. These environments are usually the most difficult for hearing aids to detect properly, but with the Infinio Ultra, these automatic adjustments are better than ever!
Battery life is also improved with the upgrade to Infinio Ultra. This allows access to Infinio’s advanced background noise-reducing features throughout the day without having to worry about battery drain.

Phonak EasyGuard Domes
Traditionally, wax guards have been the main means of protecting the hearing aid speaker from build-up of wax and debris. Many patients find they need to replace their wax guards quite frequently due to reduced sound quality.
As part of their Fall launch, Phonak announced their new EasyGuard domes, which provide an extra layer of protection against build-up in the hearing aid speaker. These domes are designed to prevent debris from making its way into the wax guard. Maintenance with EasyGuard is as simple as wiping the dome with a tissue, allowing patients to go longer in between wax guard replacements.
EasyGuard is not a suitable alternative for all hearing aid users, but it can help make maintenance easier in certain cases. If you or a loved one find yourself replacing wax guards frequently and finding maintenance challenging, ask your hearing care professional whether this is an appropriate option.
