Every hearing assessment at our Marystown clinic during the months of June and July directly supports the Burin Peninsula Ground Search and Rescue team’s mission to secure a new vehicle.  

These dedicated volunteers provide an essential service to the community, yet they have been relying on a 1990 model rescue vehicle that has reached the end of its operational life. Replacing this vehicle is not a routine upgrade, it is a critical investment that will help ensure the safety of everyone who lives, works, and travels on the peninsula. 

Your involvement in this fundraiser means you are part of a network of people who look out for one another. 

Why Search and Rescue Matters to You 

Living in a remote area like the Burin Peninsula means there are unique challenges of distance, weather, and rugged terrain. Emergencies can happen at any time, and when they do, you want to know that help is close by.  

The Burin Peninsula Ground Search and Rescue team is made up of 28 dedicated volunteers who are always ready to answer the call, no matter the hour or the conditions. 

When you support local Search and Rescue, you invest in the safety of your family, friends, and neighbours. You can feel confident knowing that your participation in our fundraiser directly impacts the ability of these volunteers to respond quickly and effectively.

Michelle and Melissa, who both call the Burin Peninsula home, wanted to share why this cause is so close to their hearts: 

“Living in a rural community changes the way you think about emergency services. Out here, we live with challenging conditions every day. That's why a fundraiser for a local Search & Rescue truck feels so important to us. It's not just about buying a vehicle – it's about investing in the safety of our community. 

Whether it's a family member, a friend, a coworker or a neighbour, most of us know someone who has relied on Search & Rescue at one time or another. 

Search & Rescue volunteers give their time, energy and expertise at all hours because they care about the people who live here. Supporting this fundraiser is our chance to show that we stand behind them and help ensure they have the equipment they need when it matters most.”
